Dairy & Chicken Pasture Walk

On August 15, ILGLC hosted a free Pasture Walk at Corbin Steiner’s farm in Tremont, IL. A total of 24 attendees gathered to tour Corbin’s farm and learn about practical grazing strategies and infrastructure.

Participants had the chance to see a wide range of grazing systems in action, including:

  • Corbin’s farm store and direct-marketing strategies

  • His milking parlor and dairy cows, which are rotated on pasture four times a day

  • Beef cattle grazing cover crops

  • A mobile chicken coop housing 200 laying hens, integrated into the farm’s rotational grazing system

As with all ILGLC Pasture Walks, this free event provided a valuable peer-to-peer learning opportunity, allowing graziers to share ideas, ask questions, and take home insights they can apply on their own farms.

ILGLC continues to host Pasture Walks across the state to expand knowledge and support the growth of grazing in Illinois. These events are open to all producers interested in learning more about the benefits of well-managed grazing systems.
