Illinois Grazing Lands Coalition

Promoting Regenerative Grazing in Illinois

Created in 1991, IL GLC promotes regenerative grazing in Illinois through regional farmer-led grazing groups. We facilitate pasture walks, grazing schools, and other educational opportunities for graziers in Illinois, as well as free on-farm consultations.

 What We Do

  • Illinois has diverse landscapes and soil structures from north-to-south and east-to-west. That’s why our Grazing Group Leaders come from regions throughout the state; so we can serve all Illinois producers regardless of their location.

  • IL GLC hosts 5 pasture walks throughout the state each year so you can see what is working well for others in your region. Join us for an informal evening of discusion and learning!

  • IL GLC hosts 2 Grazing Schools each year. These events feature industry expert speakers and go more in-depth on best practices and the latest reseach on grazing.

  • We offer free on-farm consultations that provide advice and guidance on grazing systems, fencing & water infrastructure, forage selection, and livestock selection.

  • IL GLC recognizes graziers who go above and beyond to use regenerative grazing practices in their operation and help to educate other farmers in their region.

“The benefits of regenerative grazing go beyond improving soil health, water quality, and biodiversity. The practice can also have a very positive economic impact on a producer’s bottomline through increased animal performance and lower feed costs.”
